New Zealand: Hotels
New Zealand has a diverse range of hotels, from large international chains in
its main centres, to small independent hotels throughout the country. The chain
hotels offer a reliable standard of accommodation with all the facilities to be
expected of international standard hotels such as ensuite bathrooms, minibars,
televisions, room service, bars and restaurants.
Prices vary between hotels and throughout the week. Expect to pay more in
cities during the week when hotels are busier with their corporate customers.
Prices start at around NZ$120 per night for a room. Independent hotels range
from basic to luxurious, from a room in a rural pub with shared bathroom
facilities to luxurious boutique accommodation in an historic building. Prices
vary widely but can start from as low as NZ$45 a night. Booking is recommended
especially during the busy summer months and at popular resort locations.
