Room Search provides a fast and easy way for iSites, Visitors Centers and Travel Agents to find and book New Zealand accommodation online. Our powerful search tools and comprehensive listings make the whole process quick and easy, whilst you earn the full industry standard 10% commission on all bookings. Best of all the service is totally FREE - we don't take any cut of commissions or charge any fees to agents.

How The System Works

The Room Search website is a specially designed interface for iSites, Visitor Centers and Travel Agents into our large accommodation database and booking engine.

Accommodation providers update the details about their accommodation and their availability into the system using either the www.DutyMotel.co.nz website [which is restricted to MANZ members] or the www.HolidayGuide.co.nz website [which is open to everyone]. Through these websites, accommodation providers big and small throughout New Zealand can setup and maintain themselves a FREE listing (or 'mini-website') which includes highly detailed information about their properties and what they can offer guests.

Properties can use our commission online booking service totally FREE of charge.

Finding & Booking Accommodation

Finding accommodation with our powerful search engine is quick and easy!
Your search can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it - however it is important to understand that if your search criteria are too demanding then you will not get any results back.

Search

The search will default to searching for a room for 1 guest for tonight. When you change the in / out dates using the calendars then the number of nights stay is automatically calculated; conversely changing the number of nights stay will adjust the date out automatically.

The Room Type field refers to the style of accommodation required. The number of Beds refers to th enumber of seperate bedrooms eg a Studio has no sepearte bedroom, a '1 Bed' room has one seperate bedroom etc. When trying to accommodate parties of more than 4, you wish to break the group down into smaller parties and search for rooms individually.

You can add required facilities to your search criteria by clicking on the 'Add/Edit' button - you may select from a huge range of facilities - note that the icons representing facilities that the property offers (such as an outdoor swimming pool) are coloured blue, whereas room level facilities (such as a microwave) are coloured red. Clicking the 'Clear All' button will clear all the facilities that you have selected from your search criteria.

Facilities

When you click on the 'Search' button the results that match your criteria will be listed below.

You can control the number of matches that are displayed at once by changing the 'Display x Rows' dropdown box.

Results are listed in the following order:

1. Those properties offering real time online booking. The price for all guests is displayed.
2. Those properties that update their availability in the system but require you to contact them directly to confirm a booking. Again, the price for all guests is displayed.
3. Those properties that do not update their availability in the system (and therfore may or may not be able to accommodate your customers. No price is displayed for these listings.

Clicking on a listing will display more details about that property - note that the property has supplied all of these details and listings may vary considerably in how much detail is provided.

For those properties offering real time online booking you may complete the booking online. It is important for both yourself and your customer that you both read through and agree to the policies set by the property that are displayed in their listing. The booking is confirmed when the confirmation reference number is displayed with a summary of the booking details at the end of the process. The property will automatically be informed of the booking by email. However, if the customer is due to arrive within 2 hours of making the booking we ask that you phone the property to advise them of the booking so that they can make the necessary arrangements (this is especially important for the smaller properties).

To book any property that does not offer real time online booking then you will need to contact the property directly.

Commission

Top

Unless you have a prior agreement with the property that you make bookings with, you will earn the industry standard 10% rate of commission. Commission is calculated from the total accommodation and other charges agreed to at time of booking. You should obtain payment in full from the customer and pay the property (less commission earnt) within 21 days of making the booking.

Changes And Cancellations

Any changes and/or cancellations should be made directly with the property concerned. The change and cancellation policies advised (and agreed to by you) at time of booking apply.

Questions & Answers

Q: Do I have to pay the property anything up front to secure an online booking?
A: No payment or credit card number is required up front.

Q: What happens if I make a booking in error?
A: You may cancel a booking without charge within 30 minutes of booking as long as your customer is not due to arrive at the property for at least 6 hours. Please note that confirmed reservations cannot be cancelled using this process if the customer has simply changed their mind or if multiple bookings have been made with the intention of cancelling one or more. You should only book when your customer has made a 100% commitment to the booking.

Q: What if the property booked is unable to provide the service (eg they have been overbooked)?
A: The property will (if requested) help you find suitable local accommodation of a similar quality / price. Room Search will police the system to ensure that properties that persistently cause problems will be excluded from listings.
